In the first quarter of 2021, theme park enthusiasts in the United States engaged with their favorite parks' mobile apps on iOS with varying degrees of activity. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look into how these apps performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Starting with My Disney Experience, the app saw a steady increase in downloads, starting at 30K in the last week of December 2020 and growing to almost 40K by the end of March 2021. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, from 117K to approximately 145K in the same time frame. Revenue also showed growth, with a notable rise from around 62K USD in the last week of December to nearly 79K USD by the end of March.
NBCUniversal Media, LLC’s Universal Orlando Resort app experienced a significant increase in downloads, jumping from 30K in late December to over 37K by late March. Weekly active users also saw a substantial rise from 63K to 80K, indicating growing engagement as the quarter progressed.
The Six Flags app had a more dramatic increase in downloads, starting at 7K and escalating to over 26K by the end of March. The weekly active users nearly doubled from 31K to over 53K, indicating a strong start to the year for the app.
Play Disney Parks, another Disney-owned app, maintained a consistent number of downloads throughout the quarter, hovering around 7K by March's end. Weekly active users saw a modest increase from 9K to over 8K during Q1.
Lastly, the Magic Guide for Disney World app showed a slight uptick in downloads from 5.6K at the beginning of the period to just over 5.7K by the end of March. Weekly active users experienced a slight increase, with numbers starting at 6.7K and ending the quarter at nearly 8K. Revenue saw fluctuations with a peak of around 2K USD in mid-March.
